What to see in Brighton?
Brighton is a very popular resort for the people of London and is sometimes called in London by the sea.
The most important monument of the city is the Royal Pavilion. This pavilion was built in the Indo-Saracenic style, like the Taj Mahal, which was common in India at the time.
The pavilion was commissioned by the Prince Regent George Frederick, who later became King George IV. The interior also has a distinctive style that displays items from China, India, Mughal and Islamic inspiration. During the First World War was used as a hospital and now there is a site in memory of those who died in service.
As a tourist destination next most important attraction is the beach of Brighton itself. If you visit during the summer and the blue flag beach is full of tourists and even many people who enjoy the sunny south coast enjoys. It is a pebble beach, but if you visit during low tide, you can enjoy the sandy bottom that is only slightly more. If you do not mind going Au Naturale is a nudist section east of Brighton!
Also located on the beach is Brighton Pier, also known as Palace Pier, which has a gallery with the usual attractions such as shops, restaurants and some amusement rides.
Located next to Brighton Pier is the center of marine life, which is the oldest aquarium in the world of exploitation and is a testament to the Victorian grandeur. There is also an underwater tunnel that the solution is always popular with visitors.
Another “old world” Operation is the Volks Electric Railway which runs from the Aquarium all the way to Black Rock, located near Brighton Marina. It was built in 1883 and operates in summer months.
Brighton Marina has many pubs and restaurants that offer a good stopping point along its route through the city. Enjoy the view of the boats come and go. More restaurants and cafes can be found in Jubilee Square, which is a little more modern and also the Jubilee Library here.
For a taste of culture, there are a number of theaters located near each other, bound by the new road, Jubilee Street and parts of North Laine. These theaters are the Theatre Royal, Pavilion Theatre, Corn Exchange Theatre, Dome Concert Hall Theatre and others.
For galleries, Brighton is not to blame. For some modern art, visit Fabrica. This gallery is located in a renovated church and shows new work by international artists. Other contemporary art galleries are ink, and the beacon of Phoenix. Another gallery is the traditional Grand Parade Brighton located in the central campus and consists of works by students and international artists.
For museums, the Museum and Art Gallery in Brighton, covering culture and art of Brighton itself. There is also a toy museum and model of the city that is a real gem, if you have time.
Located next to Brighton is the town of Kempton, who is often referred to as the gay capital of Britain.
Getting to Brighton?
Brighton is located directly south of London, Sussex, about 90 km by road.
If you are landing at Heathrow airport and want to drive to Brighton, then you want to get on the M25 and head south towards the left. At Exit 7, Exit M23 south towards Brighton. Stay on the M23, as it becomes the A23, and should be taken right at the heart of Brighton.
If you drive out of central London, then you will need to get south of the Thames and the A23 which takes you all the way to your destination.
Thu cities tend to be a bizarre summer, but Brighton has something for everyone throughout the year.
